Age Strong Chaffee County, and Mini-Blessings Farm are facilitating a
program for Memory Impaired older adults and their Caregivers
What is this: This program provides the opportunity for caregivers and those they
care for to interact in the welcoming and peaceful environment of Mini-Blessings Farm.
What to expect: For those with memory impairment, opportunity is provided to care
for and interact with the miniature horses who have an amazing skill at sensing what
someone may need. The focus will be on promoting a sense of self, purpose and stress
reduction.
For the caregiver, opportunity to refresh self-care skills, receive counseling and
interact with other caregivers will be the focus, as well as time with the minis.
Light snacks will be served.
Who leads this program: Molly Bischoff, the Aging Well Coordinator for
Chaffee County Public Health and Lois Arndt, the Program Coordinator for Mini-
Blessings and a certified Somatic Trauma Resolution therapist will be working together
to facilitate this program. Volunteers will be present to assist with the horses.
Dates for future meetings will bet determined
